Graciously invited by Central Cove HK to a stewardship dinner hosted by OceanX, Stoic Foundation Founder Anthony Huang and Chairman Jeremy Ip had the pleasure of attending an evening defined by rare insight, thoughtful conversation, and a distinct sense of purpose. It was, in every sense a memorable occasion—one that lingered long after the final course, not only for its atmosphere, but for the extraordinary vision at its centre.

What emerged over the course of the evening was the scale of OceanX’s mission. At a time when the ocean is both indispensable to life on Earth and increasingly imperilled, OceanX ambition is not merely to explore, but to unlock the ocean’s sustainable potential, advance understanding of the marine world, and help restore ocean health in ways that enrich human life as well.

That mission carries particular urgency because the challenges are as vast as the ocean itself. So much of the marine world remains unexplored, even as it faces intensifying pressure from pollution, ecological degradation, and a global failure to fully grasp how profoundly human futures are tied to ocean health. OceanX is seeking to address these realities by driving scientific exploration and supporting solutions that deepen knowledge, strengthen stewardship, and cultivate a more enduring sense of responsibility for the blue planet.

In that sense, the evening felt about far more than a dinner. It offered a glimpse into a mission of genuine consequence—one animated by curiosity, urgency, and an abiding belief that greater understanding can lead to greater care. To spend an evening in the orbit of such vision was both a pleasure and a privilege, and a reminder that some of the most important conversations of our time begin with learning how to look more closely at the world around us.
